Rain, Humidity, and the Battles of Farming.
As you’ve probably noticed, autumn’s off to a wet start, and while we’re not facing the extremes of Queensland and Northern NSW, the rain and humidity have brought their own challenges.
Our strawberries have been struggling – between the damp air and soggy soil, most of the current fruit has been spoiled. Nutella the pig is loving it, though!
Sadly, we won’t have strawberries in the boxes for a little while, but we’re hopeful for a successful harvest before the season ends. Thanks for your patience!
Some Changes in Packaging
We’re looking at some options to ensure that your fresh produce arrives in peak condition. This week we’ll be adding moisture pads in the base of our boxes and we’d love to hear how they go.
We’re also reconsidering the packaging of the button mushrooms as our current paper bags are a little lightweight. We have a couple of options so you might notice a change this week.
And lastly, we’ll be trialing a compostable tape this week. We aim to be environmentally responsible as possible with our packaging, but it can be a challenge with fresh produce!

Meet the New Guys
We’re beyond excited to introduce two new stars to the farm – meet Kevin and Ryan, our awesome guardian alpacas!
These lovable boys are already doing an incredible job looking out for our hens and their playful goat buddies, Victa and Honda. They’re not just adorable—they’re fierce protectors, keeping the whole crew safe and happy
Pumpkins: The Heart of Autumn Flavours!
This week, Martin and the team have been busy harvesting pumpkins and it’s safe to say they’re pumped about the haul! Pumpkins are the ultimate autumn and winter staple, and they’re officially in season.
Not only do pumpkins taste amazing, but they’re also a nutritional powerhouse! Packed with vitamin A for healthy vision and a strong immune system, vitamin C for immune defence and iron absorption, they’ve got your back all season long. Plus, with potassium to support heart health and regulate blood pressure, antioxidants and fibre, pumpkins are truly a superfood!
And let’s talk versatility! This week we’ve tossed some fresh sage into your box – perfect for adding extra flavour. Why not try one of Creel’s pumpkin-y favourites – roasted pumpkin, sweet potato and corn soup with coconut cream, topped with crispy sage. Check out the full recipe on our blog—it’s a must-try!

Pumpkins: The Heart of Autumn Flavours!
We are now into week three of our box deliveries and the team continue to work on how to provide the freshest produce to suit the needs of our members.
We’re rapidly implementing some upgrades based on customers’ feedback including:
- Adding box liners to absorb more moisture so the boxes maintain more structural integrity.
- While meeting our commitment to sustainability and cutting down packaging, we’re fine-tuning some elements to keep your produce in top condition. E.g., increasing the weight of our paper bags and using recyclable cardboard trays for some more fragile veggies and fruit.
- We’re improving our labelling and box closure, to ensure more streamlined delivery.
- From next week we’ll be adding some exciting new box formats to give you even more options to suit your needs.
- We’ve implemented some changes to our delivery system, so we are being more efficient and delivering super fresh produce even to more challenging locations.

Tomato Season: A Taste of Summer’s Best
It’s tomato season, and while our Black Russian tomatoes didn’t make it this year due to the wet summer, our Roma, Round, and Zesty Grape varieties are thriving!
You’ll find a mix of these in your box this week—taste the difference and enjoy the flavour explosion of fresh, farm-grown tomatoes.
We were so impressed with our new Zesty Grape tomatoes that we decided to test their nutrient content against store-bought ones.
The Result: Our Zestys have 68% more nutrients than the typical store variety!
For those who grabbed extra Roma tomatoes, it’s time to get creative – check out our passata and sun-dried tomatoes and salads on Insta.
Fun Fact: Cooking tomatoes boosts Lycopene, an antioxidant linked to healthy skin and reducing the risk of certain cancers.

What is regenerative farming?
Regenerative farming is all about restoring the land and working with nature to create healthier soils, more diverse ecosystems, and stronger crops.
We use crop rotation, composting and cutting back on chemicals to help lock more carbon in the soil and boost water retention. The result? More nutritious food, a healthier food system and a sustainable future.
Is regeneratively grown produce organic?
We love regenerative farming, but it’s not without its challenges. It’s a lot more hands on and sometimes crops don’t work out or deliver on the quality we want for you. Without synthetic pesticides, fertilisers and post-harvest sprays, you’re getting food that’s naturally fresh, packed with nutrients and very low-tox.
But here’s the thing … low-tox produce can also be very attractive to bugs! We remove excess soil and encourage our little friends to evacuate before we pack your box. Even so, it’s inevitable they might decide to stay put sometimes, so we recommend a shake and wash before you cook. We hope it’s a small trade-off for food grown the way nature intended.
