Our Field Crops

Farm Fresh Fruit & Veg Delivered Sydney & Central Coast

At Zestiny Farm, our orchards may be the stars, but our annual field crops are equally essential to what we do. These crops change with the seasons, providing a rotating variety of fresh produce throughout the year.

As spring progresses, our fields are currently filled with broad beans, garlic, cauliflowers, cabbages, rhubarb and mint. Of course, we’re also growing my personal favourite – strawberries, which are currently available at Gosford Farmers’ Market and Carriageworks Farmers’ Market.

In the past we practiced monocropping where we would plant just three crop varieties every six months. While this helped us build consistency, we’re now embracing a more sustainable and diverse method of farming – companion planting. This approach allows us to grow multiple crops together in a way that they support each other’s growth, enhancing soil health and reducing pests.

Over the next year we’ll be expanding to grow an incredible 50 varieties of vegetables and herbs. Companion planting not only diversifies our offerings but also aligns with our mission of sustainability and regenerative agriculture. By increasing crop variety we’re able to improve biodiversity, promote healthier soil, and reduce our reliance on synthetic chemicals.

This shift means that no two seasons will be the same at Zestiny Farm. Each harvest will bring something new and exciting, giving our customers a broader selection of nutrient-rich produce to enjoy. From fresh salad greens in the summer to hearty root vegetables in the winter, we’ll have nutritious produce to suit every season.

Our field crops are a vital part of our farm’s ecosystem, and we can’t wait to share the next harvest with you as we continue to grow.
